National Black Crime Victim Services Coalition

National Black Crime Victim Services Coalition

The National Black Crime Victim Services Coalition was formed in 2010 by the National Center for Health Behavioral Change (based at Morgan State University), Reaching Out to Others Together, Inc. (ROOT), and The McCoy Company to mobilize Black Americans and others interested in addressing the racial disparity and divide that exists in service provision, employment, contracting, and funding related to crime victim services.

The NBCVSC is in the embryonic stage of its development, so bear with us as we create the communication and management infrastructure to propel this exciting initiative! Our goal is to become the largest, most consequential Black victim-serving organization in the world.

As a first step, the Coalition organized, convened, and utilized a National Steering Committee. On April 8, 2011, the NBCVSC convened a videoconference with members of its National Steering Committee to formulate plans for a national conference. The steering committee would later develop and host a national videoconference (2011) and an in-person conference (2012). After a ten-year hiatus, the seeds of NBCVSC rebirth have been planted.

NBCVSC aspires to be the most consequential Black victim-serving organization in the world. So, we have initiated a membership drive to build our base. Coalition membership is free and will eventually include a newsletter, blog, training and technical assistance opportunities, and other benefits. To join, visit us at http://subscribepage.com/nbcvs (membership is free). Please, sign-up and pass the word on!
